circa 1881, with heavy two-stage 28in. blued barrel signed 'REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION N.Y.', the underside marked with the calibre, dove-tailed adjustable tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, colour-hardened plain receiver (faded) marked 'HEPBURNS PAT OCTOBER 7th 1879', central hammer, side-lever opening, top-tang mounted with vernier peep-sight, walnut chequered half pistol-grip butt-stock, moulded iron semi-crescent heel-plate and smooth walnut splinter fore-end with plated schnabel tip
